Automobile Electrical Switch Contacts

Automotive electrical switch contacts are contact components used to make, break or transfer current inside vehicle switches and control devices. Compared with many general-purpose switch contacts, automotive contacts often need to work reliably under frequent switching, vibration, temperature changes and different electrical loads.

They can be produced as contact rivets, contact buttons, stamped sheet contacts or contact assemblies, depending on the switch structure and mounting method.

Automotive electronic switch refers to the use of electronic circuits and power electronic devices to realize circuit on and off the operation unit, including at least a controllable electronic drive device.

The contacts used in automotive electronic switches are various and require higher requirements. The general materials are silver cadmium oxide, silver nickel, Silver tin oxide indium oxide.

Material selection is normally related to the current load, switching frequency, contact structure and expected electrical life. Silver nickel (AgNi) is commonly considered for applications requiring stable conductivity and mechanical wear resistance. Silver tin oxide based materials (AgSnO₂) are used where resistance to electrical arc erosion and contact welding is important. Different silver alloy compositions can also be supplied according to the customer's switch design and operating conditions.

Rivet contacts are suitable for mechanical riveting or automated contact assembly and can be supplied with different head diameters, head profiles and shank dimensions.

Sheet contacts and stamped contact parts are suitable for switch structures where the electrical contact needs to be integrated with a copper or copper-alloy carrier. Contact areas can be produced according to drawings and matched with the required stamping structure.

For projects requiring a specific contact geometry, material combination or dimensional tolerance, production can be based on the customer's drawing or existing contact sample.

3. For stamped and riveted automotive contacts, attention is also paid to the condition of the contact surface and edges because residual burrs or loose metal particles can affect subsequent switch assembly.
